Sabine-Neches Canal channel limitations removed
Contractors have completed removal of debris from the ship canal adjacent
to the Highway 82/Martin Luther King (Gulfgate) bridge in Port Arthur, TX.
As contractors worked diligently to remove the debris, Vessel Traffic
Service (VTS) Port Arthur implemented minimal measures necessary to
facilitate vessel traffic while minimizing risk.
Effective 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, VTS measures restricting
the draft of transiting vessels and requiring vessels to favor the red
(east) side of the Sabine-Neches Canal have been rescinded.
The VTS will continue to enforce the prohibition of vessels from meeting or
overtaking within 1, 000 feet of the bridge to protect ongoing salvage and
construction efforts….

Jakarta floods update: 20 January 2014
Flooding continues to affect parts of Jakarta has again been hit by floods,
more than 48, 000 people being evacuated and disruption to road and rail
links.
Latest reports that the high water levels have cut off the Pantura highway
as well railways tracks in Semarang.
Some Andhika GAC employees have been unable to reach the office, due to
getting caught in rising waters and resulting traffic jams or having to
deal with flooded homes. However, most continue to work using their mobile
phones, despite the challenges of intermittent internet signals due to the
adverse weather. Slower than usual responses or difficulty in communication
by telephone are possible.
So far, the floods have not had a direct impact on operations at the port,
beyond the problems with city traffic and difficulty in communications.
However, if the rains continue, delays may develop as roads to/from the
port and airport become blocked.
