A wonderful meal enjoyed by guests
V Ships hosts speakers dinner after a great CMA Shipping start, by Jean Winfield, Jeanius Consulting
After a vibrant start to day one of CMA Shipping 2014, V Ships hosted their annual Speaker’s Dinner at The Delamar at Greenwich Harbour – providing a wonderful evening of networking and dinner for their special guests.
The evening began with guesting enjoying cocktails and networking after a busy afternoon at CMA, before guests sitting down to a wonderful dinner.
Bob Bishop, Executive Director, V Group, opted to keep his speech to a minimum, welcomed guests on behalf of himself, Roberto and the other V Ships representatives, and wishing everyone an enjoyable evening.

Roberto Giorgi
Following dinner, of course the evening would not be complete without a speech by “Presidente Honorario” Roberto Giorgi, who, sporting a back brace after breaking two vertebrae in a skiing accident, took to the podium. “It’s good to have everybody here tonight. I was introduced as the President of V Ships so I would like to tell everybody exactly what I am, I am Honorary President. Bob Bishop asked me to stay on another two years and I have committed myself to stay with V Ships. My flesh and blood is V Ships so I couldn’t say no.” He added “I will be doing more public speaking, which I love, and taking care of campaigning for issues that are very important to us such as seafarers rights.”

Networking at pre dinner drinks
Roberto, who did not think he would be able to attend the event due to his injury, added “I never thought I would be here today, and I appreciate life, all of you, and the great thing about shipping is the people – see you next year!”

Bob Bishop
The speeches concluded with Jim Lawrence, CMA founder, once more thanking V Ships, speakers and sponsors for their ongoing support for CMA Shipping and wishing everyone a great event.
CMA Shipping continues until Weds 19th March at the Hilton Stamford Hotel www.shipping2014.com
