Tropical storm expected to hit Omani coast
Adverse weather from 15 to 17 June may affect cargo operations & marine
movements of Port Sultan Qaboos, as a result of a tropical storm expected
to hit the Omani coast on Sunday (15 June).
The Omani Metrological Department has this morning issued a weather warning
advising that Tropical Storm “Nanauk” is expected to hit the Omani coast
between Ras Al Hadd and Ras Madrakah on 15 June.
At the time of reporting, the storm was centered about 850km from Masirah
Island, and estimated wind surface wind speed were between 35 and 45 knots.
If the storm reaches Sharqiyah, it might affect Muscat, particularly
northern areas of the governorate.
The storm could bring between 100-300mm of rain during the 24-hour period.

Port operations suspended
Operations at the Port of Duqm have been suspended today (12 June) until
further notice.
According to an Urgent Notice from the Port of Duqm Company, this is due
to “upcoming unpredicted climate conditions and changes”.

Mooring/unmooring at buoys at Banyan Basin
During the period of reclamation of Ayer Chawan Basin, Jurong Island –
which has now extended and will be conducted from 15 June to 14 December –
bulk carriers, self-propelled barges and pusher tugs with barges in
composite unit carrying bulk sand will be transiting the Banyan Basin,
Sinki Fairway, Temasek Fairway and West Jurong Channel to Ayer Chawan Basin
reclamation project area.
Masters of vessels and harbour craft shall keep a proper lookout for these
vessels, proceed at a safe speed and navigate with extra caution when in
the vicinity of the mooring buoys off Bayan Basin, Jurong Island.
There are a total of three mooring slots. The mooring and unmooring of
vessels will be carried out one at a time during daylight hours between
0630 to 1800hours.
The following existing Mooring Buoys BBB-1, BBB-2, BBB-3 and BBB-4 at
Banyan Basin will be used for mooring and unmooring of the bulk carriers
(WGS 84 Datum). The mooring buoys will be removed upon completion of the
reclamation.

Reclamation of Ayer Chawan Basin, Jurong Island
The working period for reclamation work at Ayer Chawan Basin, Jurong
Island, has been extended.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine
Notice No.83 of 2014, the works will now be conducted 24 hours daily –
including Sundays & Public Holidays – from 15 June to 14 December within
the working area bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

The reclamation works will involve removal of existing rocks from the rock
keys along the existing shoreline and stockpiling at designated re-handling
area at Ayer Chawan Basin. Shore protection works will be carried out by
crane barges.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
(a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
(b) Maintain a proper lookout;
(c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
(d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
(e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if
required.
