Visa required for foreign passport holders

With immediate effect, all foreign passport holders travelling to Mozambique for Business or Tourist purposes must apply for a visa prior to departure.
The exception is for South African passport holders, who still do not require visas for Tourist purposes for a stay for up to 30 days. For business travellers, however, a visa must be applied for before departure.

Draft restriction in Turning Basin
July 23, 2014, United States, Lake Charles, Louisiana
Due to shoaling in the A-4 Turning Basin at Lake Charles, from August 1 a fresh water draft limit of 36′ will be imposed for vessels less that 630′.
For vessels of 630′ and more the draft will be limited to 34′ of fresh water.
Masters are also reminded that no under keel clearance is guaranteed, and vessel may touch mud bank in both A-2 and A-4 anchorages. A standby tug may be required for anchored vessels in A-4 while basin is being used for turning large vessels, and during severe weather.

Construction of TuenMun-Chek Lap Kok Link

For approximately 3 months, marine works involving site investigation, dredging, diving, reclamation and seawall construction will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS84 Datum) from (A) to (I) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 21.969’N / 113 deg. 56.930’E
(B) 22 deg. 21.866’N / 113 deg. 56.995’E
(C) 22 deg. 21.477’N / 113 deg. 57.240’E
(D) 22 deg. 21.369’N / 113 deg. 57.411’E
(E) 22 deg. 21.308’N / 113 deg. 57.411’E
(F) 22 deg. 21.309’N / 113 deg. 57.117’E
(G) 22 deg. 21.560’N / 113 deg. 56.944’E

Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights and radar reflectors will be laid to mark the boundary of the works area at co-ordinates from (B) to (G).
The works will be carried out from a flotilla of vessels including jack-up platforms, flat top barges, grab dredgers, hopper barges, dumb steel lighters at various stages. Some tugs and some work boats will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.
A working area of approximately 150 metres will be established around each working vessel in most part of the working area; whereas a working area of about 360 metres will be established around the working vessel operating near the south-eastern end of the works area. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the working vessels.
The hours of work will be round-the-clock.
Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the area.

Construction of Seawater Intake Culvert at Lok On Pai, Siu Lam

For approximately 2 months, marine works involving construction of seawater intake culvert, installation of precast units, diving operation and seawall reinstatement will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 21.708’N / 114 deg. 00.017’E
(B) 22 deg. 21.621’E / 114 deg. 00.017’E
(C) 22 deg. 21.650’N / 113 deg. 59.802’E
(D) 22 deg. 21.761’N / 113 deg. 59.802’E
(E) 22 deg. 21.761’N / 113 deg. 59.881’E
The works will be carried out by a derrick barge and a floating crane barge “NAN TIAN LONG”. Some tugs and some work boats will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.
A working area of approximately 100 metres by 50 metres and 300 metres by 150 metres will be established around the derrick barge and floating crane barge respectively. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barges.
The hours of work will be from 0800 hours to 1800 hours. No work will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the area.

Change to rules for tanker re-admittance

The S.I.O.T. Marine Oil Terminal in Trieste has advised that the re-admittance procedure for tankers in the WARNING or REFUSAL list will be modified from 1 August.
Ships in WARNING (list):
To be submitted before calling S.I.O.T. Terminal to an S.I.R.E. inspection, with positive result, by an independent OCIMF recognized inspector under S.I.O.T supervision.
Ships in REFUSAL (list):
a) Will be not accepted for a “Trial Voyage” unless submitted with positive result to an S.I.R.E. inspection and her Company assessed positively by an OCIMF TMSA framework or equivalent AUDIT. The process to be performed by an independent OCIMF recognized inspector under supervision of SIOT.
b) If the reason for the refusal can be ascribed to the Ship’s Company, she has 3 months to accomplish positively to a COMPANY AUDIT. If not, after this time, the entire Company’s fleet will be banned.
