Preventive measures against Ebola
September 12, 2014, Benin, Cotonou
Following the outbreak of the Ebola Virus in West Africa, Cotonou port authorities have taken the below preventive measures to fight the spread of the virus:1) For all vessels calling Cotonou port, the agent is required to send to the Harbor Master office a port of call list mentioning the last 10 ports of calls, three days prior to arrival.2) All vessels arriving from or which have called at a ports in one of the countries infected by Ebola should have on board prevention equipment (gloves, masks, sanitizing gel, etc.).

 

3) All vessels arriving from or which have called at a port in one of the countries infected by Ebola, and which have prevention equipment onboard, must stay at anchorage and receive FREE PRATIQUE from port health authorities prior to pilot boarding. (Boat transportation cost for embarkation/disembarkation of port health authorities are on the vessel’s account and same is to be arranged by the agent).

 

4) All crew and anyone boarding such vessels must wear masks and gloves throughout the entire port stay.

Marine Works off Tsim Sha Tsui

For approximately 3 months, marine works involving trimming operations and sounding survey will be carried out [off Tsim Sha Tsui] in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (E) and the adjacent shoreline:(A) 22º 17.578’N / 114º 10.453’E(B) 22º 17.499’N / 114º 10.443’E(C) 22º 17.483’N / 114º 10.409’E(D) 22º 17.482’N / 114º 10.359’E

(E) 22º 17.593’N / 114º 10.343’E

 

The works will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including one derrick barge, one dredger, one hopper barge, some tugs and work boats. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

 

A working area of approximately 50 metres around the dredger and barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger and barge.

 

The works will be carried out round-the-clock.

5. Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

 

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Trimming of underwater high spots

For approximately one month, trimming operations for underwater high spots [to the south of Shek Kwu Chau] will be carried out in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (F):(A) 22º 09.353’N / 113º 58.852’E(B) 22º 09.190’N / 113º 58.852’E(C) 22º 09.190’N / 113º 59.143’E(D) 22º 08.974’N / 113º 59.143’E

(E) 22º 08.973’N / 113º 58.387’E

(F) 22º 09.352’N / 113º 58.387’E

 

The works will be carried out by one grab dredger. One split hopper barge, some tugs and some work boats will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

 

A working area of approximately 100 metres will be established around the dredger and hopper barge. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger and split hopper barge.

 

The works will be carried out round-the-clock.

 

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Reclamation work at Tuas View Extension

The working period for reclamation work at Tuas View Exension has been extended. The works will now be carried out from 15 September 2014 through to 15 March 2015.According to the Maritime and Port of Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.107 of 2014, the works will be being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within a working area bounded by the following coordinates:1) 01°14.580’N / 103°36.340’E2) 01°14.580’N / 103°36.680’E

3) 01°14.240’N / 103°36.680’E

4) 01°14.240’N / 103°37.340’E

5) 01°12.800’N / 103°37.980’E

6) 01°13.180’N / 103°36.550’E

7) 01°13.400’N / 103°36.340’E

 

The reclamation works will involve dredging by cutter suction dredger (CSD), trailer-suction-hopper-dredger (TSHD) and hopper barges. Shore protection work will be carried out by crane barges and the dredging of sand-key trench by grab dredger.

 

Soil investigation will also be carried out within the working area.

 

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

 

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

(a) keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

(b) maintain a proper lookout;

(c) proceed at a safe speed & navigate with caution;

(d) maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22; and

(e) communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.
