SS WMD 2014Sailors’ Society wishes you a very happy World Maritime Day!

Thank you to those of you who are dressing in the colours of your Ensign flag today as part of our Signal Your Support campaign. It’s not too late to get involved and make a donation in recognition of our reliance on the maritime community.
“In Belgorod-Dnestrovsky we have about 200 people who have sought refuge away from the centre of military action. For our churches and for me it is a chance to serve these people. One needs clothes, another needs medicine, and children need fruit and vitamins. People who have experienced difficult situations need the help of counselling and when I mention to them that I am a chaplain it opens their hearts to communication.” Michael Pishtoy, Ukraine
Stories from Port

“This month I transported 135 seafarers in and out of the Tilbury Seafarers Centre. Many of them use our internet facilities to communicate with their loved ones back home.  Recently I listened to a father trying to teach his son the alphabet ‘A, B, C, D’ … and after a while I heard 1, 2, 3, 4.. ! How wonderful it is that he could share this moment with his son even though he is half a world away.” Frans Sahetapy, Tilbury

Robert’s paintings are particularly popular with shipyards, ship managers and owners among others for use as corporate gifts at naming ceremonies, retirement gifts and presentations.  Please get in touch if you would like more information.
Broadgate Tower Abseil

For the first time ever, Sailors’ Society is daring our supporters to take on one of London’s biggest skyscrapers; Broadgate Tower. If you’ve got the nerve to take on the drop, you’ll have the chance of viewing London’s greatest landmarks from a whole new perspective!
We’ll help you celebrate your achievement with a drinks reception hosted by Reed Smith when you make it to the ground. There are only a limited number of abseiling days held at the tower, so this really is a one-of-a-kind challenge event.
Fundraising goal: £350
