The annual Marine Money Greek Forum took place yesterday at the Athens Ledra Hotel.  It was a vibrant event with lots of great speakers and panel discussions and many opportunities to meet and exchange opinions with fellow professionals.

Nicholas Stillman, Managing Director at Clarksons Capital Markets and Nick Kounis, Head of Macro Research at ABN AMRO were the first speakers and they presented their views on the global economy and how it affects the shipping markets.

The most interesting part of the morning session and perhaps the entire event was the panel discussion among Evangelos Marinakis (Director and Chairman of the Board, Capital Product Partners L.P.), Spyros Capralos (Chairman, Star Bulk Carriers Corp.), George Soutzoglou, George Youroukos (CEO, Technomar Shipping Inc.), Michael Bodouroglou (Chairman and CEO, Paragon Shipping Inc. and Box Ships Inc.) and Constantine Tomazos (COO, Super-Eco Tankers Ltd.), moderated by Manos Pelides (Senior Partner at Deloitte).  You can listen to the entire discussion by clicking below:

The lunch party was sponsored by TEN Ltd. and hosted by Mr Nikolas Tsakos, President and CEO of the company.

The common theme of all the speeches and discussions was the interplay between various forms of financing the shipping business (private equity, public markets, debts vs. equity financing) and the cautious outlook for the global economy that affects the shipping business greatly.

The event concluded with a cocktail reception, co-hosted by IRI and the Marshall Islands Registry.
