
Dr. Vince Cable
On Wednesday 14 January 2015 the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Vince Cable will be at the CWM FX London Boat Show to celebrate the success of the British marine industry. He will join the British Marine Federation (BMF) and exhibitors in praising an industry which, together with spend associated with boating participation, brings an estimated £6.2 billion to the UK economy. From 16:00-17:00 Vince Cable MP will be exploring the industry’s bests and discovering what new innovation and skills are coming to the sector.
Throughout the Show the BMF will be hosting a range of activities and events to highlight and support the expanding British marine industry.
BMF South West Student Meet Industry Visit

BMF South West, a group association of the British Marine Federation, will be bringing 60 students to meet industry experts exhibiting at the 2015 Show. They will also be joined by Oliver Colvile, MP for Plymouth, Sutton & Devonport.
SYUK Student Design Competition
Wednesday 14 & Thursday 15 January 2015
On Wednesday 14, eight students from universities around the country will be putting pen to paper to complete their entry for this competition. Superyacht UK is putting the invaluable skill of hand-drawing under the spotlight challenging these 3rd year students to come up with a design to impress the expert judging panel. The panel, comprised of Mark Tucker (Design Unlimited), James Claydon (Claydon Reeves), Peter Brown (Burgess Yachts) and Philippe Briand (Philippe Briand Ltd), will meet on Thursday 15 at noon to pick the best design. The winner will be announced at the SYUK UK Technical Seminar at 16:00 that day and will receive a four week paid internship at Pendennis Shipyard.
SYUK Technical Seminar

At this event the most important and current technical issues facing the superyacht sector will be discussed. For 2015, host’s Superyacht UK has secured Robert Braithwaite and Julian Goldie to open the Seminar followed by a line up of informative talks. This includes an update on international legislation, a state of the industry review by Jake Kavanagh and a discussion on refit projects.
