OSLO, NORWAY – January 19, 2015 – The past year has ended on a high note for BASS, the leading provider of maritime software solutions, with German shipping group Reederei Hamburger Lloyd GmbH & Co KG (RHL) giving a golden endorsement of the BASSnet™ fleet management systems.
RHL, based in Hamburg, Germany, signed a contract with BASS on December 31, 2014, for virtually the full suite of BASSnet™ software solutions for its fleet of 28 container ships and chemical tankers.
With BASS shipping software solutions covering all major aspects of fleet management under its concept of providing one complete solution for the maritime and offshore industries, RHL will have an intelligent package in place to streamline and optimize its operations.
The key modules involved are BASSnet™ Maintenance, Projects (Dry-docking), Procurement, Document Manager, Operations, Safety Information Reporting (SAFIR), Risk Manager, Reviews and Improvements, and the KPI Dashboard.
The logic of enhancing shipping operations by installing a robust IT backbone is crystal clear to RHL’s Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Michael Brandhoff.
“Our choice of BASS shipping software solutions is anchored in its focus on providing a fully integrated software suite for ship owners and ship managers, ” he says.
“Only via the one complete solution that BASS provides can RHL maximise operational efficiency and optimize the utilization of our diverse fleet. With the fully integrated BASS software system, we are confident of maximizing the return on our investment, ” says Brandhoff.
“BASS’s commitment to future-proofing its solution makes absolute sense for the long-term business view. Moreover, BASSnet™ proved to be the superior choice in our evaluation of the top solution providers in the market, including German and Norwegian systems, ” he says.
BASS was picked following detailed due diligence by an RHL team that includes experienced merchants, nautical officers and marine engineers, Brandhoff reveals.
For BASS’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Per Steinar Upsaker, the commitment of BASS to its customers’ priorities has paid off handsomely.
“We are extremely pleased to have met RHL’s stringent criteria and lived up to its commitment to excellence, ” says Upsaker. Mr. Upsaker says further that BASS has recently expanded its Hamburg office further by employing more consultants. We do see a trend where European shipping and offshore companies opt for a quality complete Fleet Management solution after experiencing lack of functionality and interferer technical platform from other software suppliers. We do see a lot of opportunities in the European market, Mr. Upsaker says.
BASS’ customer-orientation is aided by the familiarity of its team with the maritime operating environment, allowing BASS to create solutions that are highly user-friendly and intuitive.
For BASS, this new contract has the additional significance of enhancing its footprint in the German market. The latest BASS client adds to a prime list of German shipping companies that utilise BASS’ state-of-the-art solutions, including Oldendorff Carriers and Hapag Lloyd, to name just two.
BASS’ success in Germany is the result of the decision to build on its presence in the key German maritime sector, when BASS set up its Hamburg office in 2008.
With this venture, BASS is growing from strength to strength in the German and European markets.
“We believe more shipping and offshore operators in the region will see the advantages of streamlining maritime operations with BASSnet™ software solutions and services, ” says Jaume Mortensen, Vice President of Sales with BASS.
