GAC 01072014Installation of buoys & management of dumping areas
February 13, 2015, Singapore, Singapore

From 15 February to 14 July, work will be conducted north of West Jurong Anchorage to install buoys and manage allocated dumping areas off Temasek Fairway.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.17 of 2015, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

The Allocated Dumping Area is within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

13) 01 deg. 14.980’N / 103 deg. 38.540’E

14) 01 deg. 14.850’N / 103 deg. 38.246’E

The work will involve the provision and installation of additional buoys, management of allocated dumping areas and related activities, including environmental monitoring and surveys.

A safety boat will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of on-going work.

Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;

b) Maintain a proper lookout;

c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;

d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);

and

e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Trimming of underwater high spots

For approximately 3 months, trimming operations for underwater high spots will be carried out [south of Cheung Chau] in the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D):

(A) 22 deg. 09.654’N / 114 deg. 02.138’E

(B) 22 deg. 09.329’N / 114 deg. 02.138’E

(C) 22 deg. 09.329’N / 114 deg. 01.789’E

(D) 22 deg. 09.654’N / 114 deg. 01.789’E

The works will be carried out by one grab dredger. Some hopper barges and tugs will provide assistance. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 50 metres will be established around the dredger and hopper barge. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger and hopper barge.

The works will be carried out from 0700 hours to 2300 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

A silt curtain will be established within the works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Marine Works off Hong Kong Coliseum, Hung Hom

For approximately 30 months, marine works involving site investigation, dredging works and construction of tunnel will be carried out [off Hong Kong Coliseum, Hung Hom] within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:

(A) 22 deg. 17.965’N / 114 deg. 10.955’E

(B) 22 deg. 17.904’N / 114 deg. 10.955’E

(C) 22 deg. 17.910’N / 114 deg. 10.864’E

(D) 22 deg. 17.949’N / 114 deg. 10.864’E

The works will be carried out by a flotilla of vessels including three derrick barges, one hopper barge, one jack-up barge and some tugs. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around the barges will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barges.

The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Silt curtains, extending from the sea surface to the seabed, will be established within the works area. Yellow markers fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the extent of the silt curtains.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.
