Inmarsat, the leading industry and pioneer of mobile satellite communications, has become one of the main sponsors of the 2015 International Seafarers’ Welfare Awards. The Awards – now in their 5th year – were launched in November and have attracted hundreds of nominations from seafarers. Inmarsat are present in more than 60 locations across every continent with a large customer base including merchant shipping, governments and humanitarian aid agencies amongst many others.

This year’s award categories are Shipping Company of the Year (sponsored by Garrets), Seafarer Centre of the Year (sponsored by Wrist Ship Supply), Port of the Year and the Dr Dierk Lindemann Welfare Personality of the Year (sponsored by the International Chamber of Shipping). The awards will be presented by Mr Koji Sekimizu, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation during a high profile event at the IMO in London on 9th June 2015.
