FUGRO’S SEAWATCH WIND LIDAR BUOY PROVIDES BANKABLE WIND PROFILE MEASUREMENT FOR OFFSHORE WIND FARM
Fugro has been awarded a contract by Navitus Bay Development Ltd to provide real-time bankable wind profile data for a twelve month period using the Seawatch Wind LiDAR Buoy. The LiDAR buoy has achieved close to 100% data availability despite experiencing several storms since its deployment at the beginning of February.
This compact and robust multipurpose LiDAR buoy, which in addition to wind profiles also measures waves, current profiles and standard meteorological parameters, was demobilised from the Eneco Luchterduinen wind farm off the coast of Holland and made ready for deployment at the Navitus Bay site, off the UK’s Dorset and Hampshire coasts, within a period of just three weeks.
