LISW15 Conference Update
LISW15 is focused on five fundamental parameters as they impact shipping:Innovation . Investment . Challenges . Relationships with Governments . Evolution of World Maritime TradeOne or more of these parameters will drive each of the 100+ events taking place during the week. The theme of the flagship LISW Conference on Thursday 10 September is Shipping in 2015.  Shipping remains fundamental in moving trade, driving growth and prosperity globally. With interventionist governments and regulators, changing technologies and rapidly evolving markets and demands, the Conference will explore the 10 year perspective for shipping, as follows:

  • World Trade and Shipping Markets: Global prosperity is built on the combined platform of shipping and trade. Centres of gravity are shifting inexorably, and market volatility poses complex questions for the industry. The Conference will ask what the next 10 years hold.
  • National, Supranational and Global Governance: The role of governments in a global maritime industry: Should governments lend their support and can they participate in growing their domestic sectors? How can tensions between national, regional and global priorities be resolved?
  • Innovation, Investment and Environment: How will technology, new energy sources and innovation over the next 10 years, help to ensure that environmental and economic sustainability is assured?
