Using the VV Deals+ module, the graph above shows the total amount of money spent on second hand tonnage in 2015 YTD compared with the same time frame in 2014.The biggest spender in second hand tonnage so far in 2015 is currently the US, spending over $3 billion, closely followed by Greece. Norway ranks as third at $640 million with China in fourth buying $573 million so far this year.Get in touch to see exactly what ship types each country is investing into.

Positive Panamax bulker valuesA quiet week in Tanker S&P, with the only sale of note being the Resale of Suezmax Hull 315819 158, 000 dwt blt 2016 New Times for usd 59 mil to Dynacom Tankers. This resulted in the slight downward movement of values in the Suezmax segment. Other changes in the tanker segment have been driven by SOM (State of the Market) factors.Slightly more activity in the dry sector, with 3 capes being sold under the previous sale. Sandrine Max and Glory Max 180, 000 dwt blt 2016 SWS going en bloc at usd 42 mil each to Navios Maritime. Zodiac Maritime picked up the C Prosperity 175, 600 dwt blt 2011 Jiangsu Rongsheng at usd 25 mil. These sales have driven down the cape values over the week. More positive movements in the Panamax values with the Lowlands Queen 76, 600 dwt blt 2008 selling to Norwegians at the firm price of usd 15.3 mil.

Drop in panamax container values due en bloc sale of Santa Regula and Santa Regina 4, 922 TEU blt 2005 HHI to Bocimar at usd 18.2 mil each. Handy values have gone up further due to SOM.
