GAC 01072014New procedure for crew changes
June 04, 2015, Togo, Lome

A new procedure is in place for any crew change or other personnel transfers (embarkation or disembarkation) offshore Lome.

The new regulation requires the following:

1) A scanned copy of the passport of all crew or personnel embarking/disembarking from any vessel, to be provided 24 hours in advance by the company requesting such service to the

Master of the vessel and the appointed agent.

2) Master must then forward official authorisation with the names and the copies of the passports of the crew or personnel embarking/disembarking from his vessel bearing his undersigned full style address (Name, Phone number(s), Fax number, Satellite number, e-mail, etc.) to the Agent.

3) This official authrisation from the Master will be used by the Agent to proceed for formalities with the port.

Dredging in Three Mile Creek turning basin & Mobile River

Mike Hooks Dredging, Inc will commence dredging operations on or about June 5, 2015 at the Three Mile Creek Turning basin and the Upper Mobile River.

They will be at that location for approximately 45 days. The dredging should be completed on or about July 31, 2015. They will at times have an anchor barge located near the edge of the channel. Please contact the dredge 30 minutes in advance to have them move any of their equipment.

The dredge MISSOURI H can be reached on channel 13/16 VHF/FM or by cell phone on the dredge at (337) 802-2138. The contact person for Mike Hooks Dredging Inc. is Mr. Grayson Flowers and can be contacted at (337) 515-8907.

Road access to pier during SEA Games

During the SEA Games 2015, several roads leading to Marina South Pier (MSP) will be closed for the cycling event that will be held from 9 Jun 2015 to 14 Jun 2015.

The Shipping and Harbour Craft Communities are advised to plan their journeys in advance to

avoid delays when travelling to MSP by road.

Suspension of energy service
June 04, 2015, Colombia, Buenaventura

Due to electricity problems caused by the destruction of a power tower, operations at Buenaventura port have been delayed.

According to latest news, the army and the electricity service company have not yet entered the affected area, and have not started fixing the power tower.

The above situation is affecting all terminal operations with gantry cranes, shore suctions, shore loaders, etc unable to fully operate. According to information of port administrator, terminal is working just 30% of its capacity.

The terminal’s berthing schedule for the next days may be affected and reconsidered.

The terminal uses two shore gantry cranes and two shore cranes to attend all container vessels arriving in the coming days.

Unscheduled locks lane outage
June 04, 2015, Panama, Panama Canal

Beginning Monday, June 8, 2015, at 2200 hours through Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at 1000 hours (12 hours), the EAST lane of Pedro Miguel Locks will be out of service.

This outage is required to replace the locks fenders at the North end, in order to ensure a safe transit to our customers.

As a result, and in accordance with the rules governing the Transit Reservations System (OP’s Notice to Shipping No.N-7-2015), Condition 1.a. will be in effect on Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

Applications for reserved transits while Condition 1.a. is in effect will be received beginning at 0900 hours on Saturday, June 6, 2015. The Just-In-Time (JIT) slots available for supers will be reduced during this period to one slot per direction. The JIT slots available for regular vessels transiting without restrictions, as well as the booking slot available through the Auction Process, and the slots available for regular vessels less than 300 feet in LOA, will continue to be offered during this period.
