The working period for the construction of a bridge over King’s Dock at Keppel Bay Drive has been extended. The work will now be conducted from 12 June to 12 December.According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s Port Marine Notice No.63 of 2015, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
A) 01 deg. 15.830’N / 103 deg. 48.951’E B) 01 deg. 15.819’N / 103 deg. 49.023’E C) 01 deg. 15.779’N / 103 deg. 49.019’E D) 01 deg. 15.801’N / 103 deg. 48.986’E E) 01 deg. 15.806’N / 103 deg. 48.947’E
The construction of bridge will involve installation of temporary piles, steel staging, and reinforced concrete work using crane barge.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to: a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area; b) Maintain a proper lookout; c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution; d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 05 (Cruise Bay Control); and e) Communicate with Cruise Bay Control on VHF Channel 05 for assistance, if required.

Proposed low Sulphur fuel regulation for cruise vessels | |

The Port Authority of New South Wales has issued advice about the Consultation Draft of a new regulation requiring cruise ships to use low sulphur diesel fuel (sulphur content of 0.1% or less) from 1 October.If the regulation is passed, this would be applicable for all cruise ships visiting Sydney Harbour, and then to include all New South Wales ports from 1 July 2016.

Bosphorus closure rescheduled | |

Today’s planned closure of the Bosphorus to shipping traffic was cancelled due to technical reasons.Instead, the Bosphorus will be closed from 0600 to 1700 hours tomorrow (11 June) due to works on the 3. bridge (Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge).
