Singaporeans celebrate today their 50th Anniversary of their Independence – 9th August 1965!

In these 50 years, the industrious people of Singapore created an example state, enviable all over the world! The former British colony has transformed itself into one of the world’s wealthiest countries as well as one of the world’s most important shipping and financial centres!

There was a special tribute to Lee Kuan Yew, who led Singapore into independence and was its prime minister until 1990; Mr Lee passed away earlier this year. There were parades and dozens of events which had been meticulously prepared for this special occasion !

Geia sou Yianni,
Your article marks an important event in Singaporean and in world history.
However, my Singaporean friends to whom I forwarded it were not impressed by your error ~ the highly respected and long serving former Prime Minister was Mr Lee, NOT Mr Yew !!
Regards
Jeffrey
