Platform features in “Gender heroes” brochure by Basel Convention/UNEP

Brussels, 1 September 2015 – The NGO Shipbreaking Platform, a coalition of non-governmental organisations working to promote safer, cleaner and more just ship recycling world wide, is being featured alongside other NGOs in a publication by the secretariat of the Basel Convention about activists advocating for a better, healthier planet. Both Patrizia Heidegger, Executive Director of the Platform, and Ingvild Jenssen, Policy Advisor, are interviewed in this brochure about their motivations to work on the shipbreaking issue. The brochure was presented last May at the last Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention, an international instrument under the auspices of the United Nations, aiming at regulating hazardous waste exports world wide.The brochure (PDF) can be downloaded here and more information about the Basel Convention’s “Gender Heroes” brochure can be found here.
