Developing further the Port of Las Palmas Foundation

Padrón y Santiago, “IMO Maritime Ambassador” and Maritime Authority of Tenerife, accompanied by Professors and the Dean of the Superior Polytechnic School of Engineering of the University of La Laguna, visited the PORT OF LAS PALMAS FOUNDATION, maintaining a meeting with its Manager.

During the visit, the IMO Maritime Ambassador -with his companions- held a meeting with the Manager of the Foundation, Mr. Sergio Galvan Montesdeoca, suggested the completion of an agreement with the University of La Laguna (Tenerife) enabling the conducting of academic practices for students of the said University, with special emphasis on maritime qualifications.

The Port of Las Palmas Foundation is a cultural and educational institution, private and non-profit, incorporated on October 31, 1997 and recognized as for public interest in the Registry of Foundations of the Ministry of Education.

The Foundation’s main objective is the promotion and organization of any initiatives of international, educational, cultural, sporting and social promotion that may be developed in the area of the Canary Islands and especially aimed to members of the port community of Las Palmas.

During the visit, the IMO Maritime Ambassador was accompanied by Capt. Antonio Bermejo Díaz, Capt. Juan A. Rojas Martín, both Professors at the Nautical School of the University of La Laguna (Tenerife) and Prof. Nicolás Marichal Plasencia, Dean of the Superior Polytechnic School of Engineering in the same University.
