It’s going to be an interesting weekend this one; after eight days of continuous fall, the index does make sense! Grounded at 373 the Baltic Dry Index has a case to answer! John Faraclas from www.allaboutshipping.co.uk reports from London on the second recapitulation of the Shipping Markets and Indices as well as Geopolitics affecting same:
The Capers’ BCI sunk at 198, below the life-line of 200. These 27 points do make the difference!
The Panamaxes down seven at 381 struggles; the BSI down eight at 384 creates more havoc and the BHSI down two points at 245 is a fact. Very few fixtures make sense!
The wets too in a downwards trend; the last published BDTI and BCTI were 906 (minus 23) and 712 (minus five) respectively.
Pause and see what you can do. A good balance sheet can make the big difference. Still a good, a good buyers’ market! Have a nice weekend and follow closely the geopolitical and other economic developments.
