Vote in Plenary about Ports Regulation: Port Stakeholders’ organizations request MEPs to vote “en bloc” for the compromise text
On March 8th, the European Parliament will be voting on the Fleckenstein report on the proposal for a Ports Regulation. The final report reflects the compromise that had been reached by the rapporteur and the shadow rapporteurs.
The European organizations representing the port terminal operators, the port and technical-nautical services’ unions, the pilots, the boatmen and the port authorities appreciate the efforts that have been made by Rapporteur Fleckenstein to reach a balanced compromise text, thanks to an inclusive dialogue involving different stakeholders.
We strongly believe that the work achieved so far by Mr. Fleckenstein and the shadow rapporteurs should be supported in Plenary and is a solid basis for opening the negotiations with the Council. Therefore, all signing organizations, kindly invite MEPs to support the compromise and vote in favor of the text “en bloc” without additional amendments and to grant to Mr. Fleckenstein the necessary mandate to start negotiations with the Council and the European Commission.
