Dredging in Hung Hom Fairway

With immediate effect and for a period of approximately 12 months, dredging operations will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D):
(A) 22 deg. 17.826’N / 114 deg. 10.976’E
(B) 22 deg. 17.208’N / 114 deg. 11.117’E
(C) 22 deg. 17.185’N / 114 deg. 11.003’E
(D) 22 deg. 17.777’N / 114 deg. 10.886’EThe works will be carried out by one grab dredger, two hopper barges, one tug boat and one guard boat. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.A working area of approximately 50 metres around the dredger will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the dredger.The hours of work will be from 0700 to 2300 hours daily including Sundays and public holidays. Vessels engaged in the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

A silt curtain, extending from the sea surface to the seabed, will be established within the works area. The silt curtain is a large piece of netting used to contain mud and sediments.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

Congestion in offshore anchorage area

The Port of Fujairah has advised that due to congestion in the offshore anchorage area, the following have been implemented:

  1. Overnight Stay Charge not applicable to vessels on re-anchoring from Off Port Limit upon getting listed in the Operations Department’s “List of vessels at F.O.A.A.” (list of six vessels)
  2. Overstay Charge applicable to vessels on re-anchoring from Off Port Limit if name not listed in the Operations Department’s “List of vessels at F.O.A.A.” (list of six vessels)
  3. Free stay of 10 days at Fujairah Offshore Anchorage should be availed in one shot, not intermittently.

Coverage during strike

During the period of industrial action at Grangemouth which commenced today (15 March) GAC UK will cover the container terminal and empty compound during the following hours:

  • Tuesday 15 to Friday 18 March: From 08.00 to 12.00 hours & from 13.00 to 17.00 hours
  • Saturday 19 March: Closed
  • Sunday 20 March: Closed
  • Monday 21 to Friday 25 March: From 08.00 to 12.00 hours & from 13.00 to17.00 hours

During this period, three straddle carriers will service the main import/export yard instead of the usual five. Turnaround times will be slower than normal.

Jetty closure
