PITTSBURGH,  29 April, 2016 – PPG (NYSE: PPG) Protective & Marine Coatings will once again be exhibiting at next weeks’ Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2016 in Houston, using this year’s event to showcase its new PHENGUARDäSUBSEA coating system.

PPG’s new PHENGUARD SUBSEA 610 and PHENGUARD SUBSEA 780 product combination is the ideal two-coat subsea system with a high-temperature resistance up to 180°C (356°F) for surfaces with or without insulation.

Jake Ojeda, Global Offshore Segment Manager, will attend the event along with Marcel de Haan, Global Product Specialist for Subsea Coatings.

Marcel de Haan says:

“The subsea market is one of the most innovative sectors within the offshore industry, with state-of-the art technologies used for subsea projects worldwide. One of the main concerns at elevated temperatures is the difference in temperature between internal (e.g. hot oil) and external (e.g. cold seawater) environments. At elevated temperatures, with the possibility of having a temperature gradient over the coating, coating systems can behave differently compared to standard conditions.”

“Therefore, high-technology products are needed that can deal with the temperature gradient combined with cathodic protection. Our coatings experts have utilized the high performance PHENGUARD product technology to provide a reliable and effective solution to the subsea market in the form of Phenguard Subsea 610 and 780.”

The new system has also been specifically designed to fulfill the requirements of System 7C, NORSOK M-501 Revision 6 (see *technical notes).

PPG’s comprehensive protective coatings range features outstanding tank linings, zinc-rich primers, general-purpose epoxy primers, splash zone and subsea coatings and durable finishes, combined with its’ hydrocarbon PFP/ cryogenic offering.

Visit PPG at OTC 2016,  2-5 May, Booth 3509.
