New port entrance opened |
Wednesday, May 25, 2016, Gothenburg, Sweden |
The joint entrance for road traffic to the Port of Gothenburg has now been officially opened. A clearer route to the port, improved traffic flow and a more efficient reception procedure are just some of the benefits to emerge from this newly established port entry point.Located immediately beside the terminals on Hisingen is Port Entry – the new terminal entry point. It represents a long-awaited piece in the puzzle of achieving better traffic flows to and from the port……The new entrance includes parking areas, truck slots and ID control facilities for each of the terminals. The area even has a Preem filling station for haulage companies. Avarn Security (former G4S), the company responsible for port security, will also be based in the new entrance building. The trucks that are handled here are those that have not been notified in advance. Each terminal will have its own reception desk and after reporting at the gate the trucks go directly to the terminal for unloading or freight collection…
…With the opening of the new port entrance, the joint security function will be first on site. The three terminals – Gothenburg Roro Terminal, Logent and APM Terminals – will move in gradually during the year. Each terminal will announce exactly when this will take place. Until the terminals’ ID control facilities at Port Entry are fully operational, the present advance notification and ID control points will continue to be used. Construction was carried out by Serneke Anläggning on behalf of Gothenburg Port Authority. The total investment of 40 million kronor was funded jointly by the terminal operators.
