As Tropical Depression Nine continues to develop and is expected to become a Tropical Storm making landfall in the Mobile area, the Captain of the Port yesterday (30 August) set X-Ray.Currently, all waterways in the Mobile AOR are open to traffic. Tropical Depression Nine could affect waterways from mile marker 222 to mile marker 375 (Ft Walton Beach, FL to Carabelle, FL) of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Port of Panama City. The Captain of the Port may issue further instructions as the weather system approaches.The Coast Guard is surveying the port and its areas to determine the status of storm preparedness. The Captain of the Port may take administrative action against oceangoing commercial vessels and Coast Guard regulated barges over 300 GT that refuse to depart port/relocate to safe or that submit an insufficient/adequate mooring plan, or have not taken the necessary steps to prepare for forecasted heavy weather.
