The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) remained the same as per last Friday’s closing at 804 points with the volatile capers losing steam and its respective BCI 2014 now reading 1,581 points – up only 15 points…
The Panamaxes and the respective BPI gained just one point and now stands at 659… caution!
The Supras continued its dropping modus losing seven points and the BSI stands at 681.
The Handies too lost – two points and the BHSI now reads 417.
The Wets again with mixed feelings; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and the BCTI (Cleans) gained six points and lost eight respectively – 542 and 408.
The price of WTI down at US$ 46.05 as these lines are written…
The continuation of bankruptcies and uncertainty in all fronts creates havoc but we believe that those very few with money available and good business relationship can even go for a buying spree. This is the best ever buyers’ market for all types of tonnage!
In a nutshell: Shipping enters the phase of the very very very few; end of the story. I can entertain any and all the gurus of shipping live on TV!
Expect colossal bankruptcies and many fraudsters will end up behind bars for the rest of their lives when one day the attorney general confirms the view, that everybody knows (per Leonard Coen’s song), i.e: there was a market manipulation scam in all fronts!
You see these results emanate from the outcome being lack of coaching and mentorship on-board and ashore. Few individuals and companies opted for these well-known traditional techniques.
Today there is also the opportunity to become an excellent head-hunter and create a great team to tackle in future the industry. This job / task belongs to the CEO who knows the business well, the shipping CEO and not any Tom, Dick and Harry. Be on guard!
Geopolitics
The MIGRANTS now continue to be the number one geopolitical issue.
The US-Russian “brokered” ceasefire in Syria will not be a successful one, particularly given Turkey’s intrusion and the coming Kurdish explosion in all fronts. I don’t wonder why Turkey was allowed to enter the lions dense, but those who are afraid of the Turkish blackmail will soon find themselves in real trouble – needless to say what will happen to Turkey at the end of the day! ISIS must be defeated but only by the US, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom; whoever interferes will make it a total mess!
Libya is in trouble too with fighting around its main oil exporting ports!
BREXIT continues to send more shocks within and outside of the United Kingdom. People should remain cool and ensure they know how to navigate in turbulent waters. The Cameron latest saga to resign as MP is a very serious one! Expect a bit of mess in the United Kingdom, but if the establishment remains cool all will be fine! You need to saw though zero tolerance to Brussels’ bureaucrats and their German masters. The entire European project is about to collapse; this is a relative old story, from May 2011! In the meantime, the internal UK politics brings up an interesting finding: for the foreseeable future under the circumstances, Labour is unelectable!
In Greece expect the unexpected sooner or later, but let’s hope somebody might lead the way and magnetise the Greek mind to make a great GREXIT! The EU will break up if Brussels and Berlin continue their existing policy! For a start they don’t have a clue of how to respond to the BREXIT events – no plan exists! No plan ever existed. It was good for the people of the United Kingdom to vote BREXIT proving and exposing the mess Europe is in!
Hillary Hilton felt unwell during the September eleven 15th anniversary; a normal problem and a respected one. Donald Trump MUST learn a bit of social and humane manners when next time round he responds to a similar incident!
North Korea is testing our patience; its supremo there might pay a hefty penalty for all this nonsense – his backers too!
