Capt. Antonio M. Padrón y Santiago, “IMO Maritime Ambassador” and Maritime Authority of Tenerife, will receive the “FACENDO HISTORIA 2016” Award (Making History) in Marin (Pontevedra), his village of birth, together with other important personalities

The FACENDO HISTORIA Awards, sponsored by the Association Portocelo Opinion Club and with the cooperation of the City Council of Marin (Pontevedra), is an initiative that goes beyond facts and events of the historical past of the town.

These activities are complemented with the aim of give affection and recognition, with the help of other groups and associations, to the Marinenses who are doing -or have made history through the times- promoting and spreading their land, linking the name of Marin to their personal, professional, business, intellectual, sports, cultural and even political trajectory; and reward those groups, companies or public or private entities that are engaged and involved in the social and economic development of Marin.

The FACENDO HISTORIA Awards were founded in 2012 on the occasion of the commemoration of the IX Centenary of Marin in history, held at the Monastery of Osera, reaching and this time the V edition.

This year, the prizes will be for:

Luis Moreira Muradas ‘Cuti’, soccer player and pioneer in the first team of Marin, C. F.;

Primitivo Busnadiego Simon, a former professor in San Narciso College, indefatigable promoter of athletics among his students;

Antonio Manuel Padrón y Santiago; Maritime Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and IMO Maritime Ambassador, lover of his village and passionate about everything that means the sea; and

The Port Authority of Marin, (in the person of its president, Jose Benito Suarez Costas) celebrating the 130th anniversary of the Declaration of Marín as of Port of General Interest of the State.

The delivery of awards will take place the next day 13 November 2016, at 12.15 hours in the Public Library of Marin (Pontevedra).
