Bridge from education to employment

Project Connect participated in forum by the Employment Committee

Project Connect Athens participated in the “Bridge from education to employment” forum, hosted by the American – Hellenic Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Athens Hilton Hotel, hosting people from the governmental, academic and business world, as well as organizations active in helping the young generation to be linked with the work market and reduce brain drain.

Namely, the ministries of Labour and Education were present as well as HR experts from established companies as Celestial Cruises, OTE Group, IBM Hellas, Intrasoft International, National Bank of Greece, Athens International Airport, Chipita, etc. Among the organizations focusing on the young generation were ReGeneration, associate of Project Connect and the AIESEC. Project Connect presented its humble project where Ms Irene Notias emphasized the need for unity and for volunteers making the effort even from their personal time to encourage more internships by persuading the shipping companies how relevant it is for Shipping’s future and also by making it easier for them to participate.

The goal is to increase the young generation’s employability, inside and outside of shipping! The outcome was to cooperate under specific quality standards for more efficient internship programs and in order to enhance chances to get a job for the next generation of Greece, meeting the goal of Project Connect.

The Project Connect initiative is a non–profit organization, created in May 2015 by a team of shipping industrialists, business consultants, HR experts, and students who volunteer their services and time.  It is based on New York corporate office organizational structures, systems and methods.  It bridges shipping and business school students to the Shipping community.
