The Markets continue to drop and Geopolitics will become like Yellowstone… John Faraclas’ midweek report:
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) closed down 32 points since yesterday and now reads 894 – below the 900 point-mark!
The volatile Capers’ BCI 2014 lost another triple-figure 144 points and now stands at 1,326…
The Panamaxes BPI gained 48 points and managed to …reduce the total losses of the main index; now stand at 1,021 – a good sign above the 1,000 points! For this side it re-confirms our view that Panamaxes being our most favourite size (post Panamaxes included) do have a future.
The Supras’s BSI was also down eight points – now reading 758 and the Handies’ BHSI at 477 – lost 12 points…
So, all in all another messy day and CAUTION should be observed, particularly when we read all shorts of reports from any Tom, Dick and Harry AND any Jane, Mary and Clare… This is manipulation of the worst kind, reminding me some articles in reputable daily newspapers… that the Market will improve substancially in the second half of 2014!!!!!!! The Wets “produced” a better, but mixed picture; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 1,017 – plus four, and 775 – down 25 respectively. CAUTION here too.
The WTI stood at US$ 52,37 – another rise following the low 50’s earlier on today. We reiterate the view that WTI shouldn’t go over the US$ 50 mark as it affects the poor masses comprising at least 85 percent of Planet Ocean’s population!
The Box-trade will continue to be a liability for almost all stakeholders and it is early days until we see the lighthouse…
Positive signs though are with the FTSE, Dow Jones, NASDAQ performance; excellent… Lets see what the rest of Europe and the Feast does…
The Geopolitical front continues to be messy, explosive and uncertain.
MIGRANTS, The Syrian and Iraqi as well as the entire North Africa – Middle east saga, The ISIS lot everywhere now, Turkey, Cyprus, Israel and the Palestinian melee, The European Union with Germany’s adamant inhumane stand and stance, BREXIT, the possible GREXIT, The …take-over of the White House by Donald Trump amid unique accusations, denials and all sort of things you never ever imagine, Add the Obama good bye tears, and so don’t cry for me America… The Russian agenda for all – some claim Russia influenced 23 to 24 countries’ elections… The Chinese mayhem – this is the reality, the Japanese last major chance for full control in the Pacific Basin, Africa’s proxy mess, Latin and South American chaos, Australians trying the leap forward, the world’s Dire Straits and other issues create the perfect tsunami. Who can sustain this situation (read carefully yesterday’s report as well as all others and you will see who’s writing the truth and who really cares for you). You see, except the ships, our industry and our care and concern as a medium is the Seafarers’ safety and well-being; end of the story!
