Offshore Yacht Race
Wednesday, March 15, 2017, Hong Kong
An offshore yacht race will take place from 18 March 2017 (Saturday) to 19 March 2017 (Sunday). About 10 yachts are expected to participate in the race.

The race will start in the vicinity of Tai Long Pai, off Shek O at 1030 hours on 18 March 2017. It will follow a south-easterly route outside the Tathong Channel and East of Waglan Island, thence to the waters outside Hong Kong. The race will finish at Tathong Channel Separation No. 1 Buoy (TCS1) at about 1600 hours on 19 March 2017.

Masters, coxswains and persons-in-charge of vessels navigating in the vicinity of the race routes should proceed with caution, giving practical consideration to the contestants. Compliance with the provisions of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972 is mandatory.

Temporary Wind Monitoring Station

A temporary wind monitoring station which has been established off Basalt Island for collecting wind data will continue to operate for a period of approximately 3 years.

The station is a large offshore platform. The particulars of the station and its aids to navigation are as follows:
Position (WGS 84 Datum): 22 deg.  17.990’N / 114 deg. 25.463’E
Elevation of main platform: 15 metres above mean sea level
Supporting Trunk: Yellow
Meteorological Mast: Orange and white stripes

Aids to Navigation of the Station:
Light: Mo (U) 15s
Foghorn: Mo (U) 30s
Radar Reflector: Fitted
Automatic Identification System: Fitted

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and give a wide berth.

Naval celebrations
Wednesday, March 15, 2017, Dardanelles, Turkey
Traffic in the Dardanelles will be suspended between 0800 and 1600 hours tomorrow (16 March) and on Saturday 18 March, due to the Canakkale naval celebrations.
