Submarine cable duct construction works

For approximately 16 weeks, submarine cable duct construction works will be carried out [at D’Aguilar Peninsula] within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (D) and the adjacent shoreline:
(A) 22 deg. 12.667’N / 114 deg. 15.280’E
(B) 22 deg. 12.828’N / 114 deg. 15.428’E
(C) 22 deg. 12.776’N / 114 deg. 15.495’E
(D) 22 deg. 12.672’N / 114 deg. 15.400’EThe works will be carried out by one derrick barge. One tugboat and one guard boat will provide assistance.

A working area of approximately 50 metres around the barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the barge.

The hours of work will be from 0800 to 1800 hours. No works will be carried out on Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the works will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.

Diving operations will be carried out from time to time during the hours of work.

Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.

Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution and keep clear of the works area at slow speed, bearing in mind there are divers working in the works area.

Increases to port tariffs

Yemen Red Sea Ports Corporation has announced the implementation of some increases to tariffs at the port of Hodeidah, to come into effect from 1 June 2017.

In its notice announcing the increases, the Corporation states that the port has experienced financial difficulties and challenges because of the blockade as well as big price increases for petroleum prices, oil spare parts and other aspects, resulting in a deficiency and not being able to cover it expenses since 2015 to date. It is therefore necessary to implement increases to some tariffs.

These increases apply to:

  • Tug Boats and Floating Marines fees
  • Services of stable and mobile cranes for general cargoes
  • Breaches and Penalties in USD
  • Ton fee on typical imports (container) in Temeni Ral (YR)
  • Storage wages (containers floor) Typical Imports (Container) in YR
  • Wages of Container Carriers (haulers) in YR)

Port closure

From 0345 hour local time today (22 May), all port operations for berthing/unberthing at Jubail were suspended by the port authority due to strong winds and bad weather.

Operations suspended due to high winds

At 0600 hours local time today (22 May), Dammam Port Marine operation was suspended for safety reasons by the Port Authority, and the Marine Department halted ships’ movement for docking docking/undocking.
