Taganrog Commercial Seaport earmarks $4.2 million for its 2018 expansion programme

Taganrog Commercial Seaport JSC (TCS, part of UCL Holding) implementing its capacity expansion programme plans to invest a total of $4.2 million in upgrade of handling equipment and port infrastructure modernization.

The money will be spent largely on the purchase of two rail-mounted slewing electrical double-jib cranes «AIST» RPS-640 with the capacity of up to 32 tonnes fitted with 10 cbm clamshell buckets. The new cranes will enable the stevedoring operator to boost performance and efficiency of dry bulk material handling at Berths No2, No 3.

To ensure the operation of Albatros portal cranes TCS will purchase two dedicated 5.8 cbm two-leaf grab buckets intended for bulk grain and coal handling as well as a 5 cbm grain handling grab required for a SENNEBOGEN material handler.

TCS will allocate funds for acquisition of an electric scissor lift for maintenance and repair of portal cranes, track loaders and a KALMAR loader.

As part of retooling and modernization the company will expand its handling fleet and purchase a HYUNDAI HL760-9S wheel front loader with a 4 cbm bucket for handling coal.

TCS will also purchase and install reinforced concrete fence to increase storage capacity of its outdoor storage yards for dry bulk cargo.

Besides, investment programme of TCS includes measures for improvement of safety and fire prevention. In 2018 the company plans to replace high-voltage equipment, laying and connecting of a HV bridle cable between the port’s substations as well as modernization of power grids at Berths No 1, No 2 to ensure uninterrupted operation of its GOTTWALD crane.
