Not good news yet from the Baltic as the BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 13 points; Geopolitics in disarray. John Faraclas’ daily briefing:
Let us hope the Dry and Wet Markets remain same they are today; a fall below the 2,000-point mark will send shocking waves of an unprecedented tsunami. Still we are 1,068 points below the December 2013 closing when the market stood at 2,247 points. Today, ships just manage to make it – those built at a high purchase price and expensive second hand acquisitions are in trouble…
The Capers’ fall was increased since yesterday; the BCI now reads 1,362 points – down 63!
The Panamaxes lost one point with the BPI now reading 1,623 points…
Supras and Handies added nine and two points; the BSI and BHSI now stands at 1,049 and 617 points respectively.
Falling Wets too; the last published BDTI and BCTI stood at 648 – minus five, and 577 – minus thee points respectively.
The price of WTI stood at US$ 60.80 – a minor increase…
The Geopolitics are putting us in a state of alert, as except the current events we have more sackings in the USA’s administration following that of Rex Tillerson…
The MIGRANTS issue maintains the top lead with the Wars in Syria and Iraq dragging more nations in, in the second place. Turkey continues its erratic course and will certainly at the end of the day disappoint even its backers… Greece in turmoil both internally as well as externally; ultra caution should be observed!
BREXIT stirs up everything and the UK – Russian relationship bottoms-out…
