The BDI (Dry Baltic Index) despite gaining 31 points since yesterday , looks volatile and vulnerable; geopolitics might redraw European and World order. John Faraclas’ midweek recap:
The BDI now stands at 1,586 points thanks to the Panamaxes’ maintained low-level surge – 64 points plus yesterday, 67 today and now reads 1,498 points.
The Capes’ volatility is not just questionable, it sends warning messages as yesterday it was plus 224 points and today only just one with the BCI standing at 2,793 points. CAUTION!
The Supras and the Handies both lost two points and now the BSI and BHSI stand at 992 and 558 points respectively…
Mixed feeling again with the Wets. The last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 732 – plus three and 499 – minus two points respectively. CAUTION here too as these levels are more than dangerous!
The WTI fell “considerably”; minus almost three dollars and about (?) to fall below the US$ 70 mark!
The Geopolitics are boiling up; NATO’s meeting today leaves too many questions vis-à-vis president Trump’s attitude. He wants all NATO member states to contribute for the alliance! He might go on and demand a 4 centum of each member’s GDP! Will he tear and re-write the 70 years old Atlantic Order with say the United Kingdom and abandon president Roosevelt’s legacy and care… 28,000 American servicemen lost their lives supporting and defending the UK! Let’s the outcome of his visit in London! And what do you all make on his remarks for Mrs. Merkel’s Germany and her energy and other dealings with Putin’s Russia – becoming depended so to speak…affecting Ukraine too! He (president Trump) will introduce sanctions and penalties to those western companies and countries involved in the Nord Stream 2 . Above all is America and the message is here to stay! It was an expected attitude and stance and let’s see what will be said during his UK visit tomorrow. That was NATO’s first ever controversial summit with possible incalculable repercussions if its members don’t stick to the American beliefs! French and German politicians like Bruno Lemer and Peter Altamaier expressed their concerns and that they – the entire EU and Europe in general will resist – already took measures against the Tariffs and in general they will fight back a commercial war with the US! Meantime, Johannes Hahn European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations Commissioner, must ensue next time he speaks up to be absolutely clear vis-à-vis frontiers issues particularly in the Balkans… Shame! It is not the first time that NATO or EU officials try to deprive Greece; caution as the legacy of Alexander the Great is alive and kicking…
