Asymmetrical but expected figures govern the Markets and Geopolitics; we have been warning you with CAUTION in capital letters for both for a long time. John Faraclas daily and weekly recap:

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 16 points earlier on today and now reads 1,366   points. On a weekly basis it lost 124 points (down from 1,490) thanks to the 511 points lost over the week by the Capes… (down from 2,411 points on the 7th of September). The gap now widens and stands at 881 points: 2,247 (end of Dec 2013) – 1,366 today !!!

The Capes’ BCI stood at 1,900 points, down 80; a very dangerous level given that the 1,900 threshold might be “broken” this coming Monday – let’s hope NOT!

The Panamaxes’ BPI lost 11 points and now reads 1,523 points. It was though 11 points plus since last week’s 1,512 points…

Plus two points for the Supras’ BSI now standing at 1,134 points No change on the weekly figure…

The Handies’ BHSI stood at 588 points, a good seven points plus. On a weekly basis we have some good news here: plus 20 points – from 568!

The Wets  still on the low side; the last published BDTI (Dirties) stood at  770 –  that’s plus one point and
the BCTI (Cleans) stood at 511, minus seven points. The weekly change was minus eight points for the Dirties – down from 778 and 21 points down for the Cleans – from 532… Caution!

The WTI was up at US$ 68.99; Caution. Last week same stood at US$ 67.85.-

The Geopolitics are more than perplexed and we stand by this statement which is continuously repeated as a reminder to all to avoid the mess from this Third World War that is already on in a multiple of ways! All About Shipping is an unbiased medium and cannot follow the tide… hence the style and tone of our reporting…

The Migrants; this is pandemic especially in Europe. It will shake the European Union members and non members to its foundation. Already, as the social cohesion is affected and soon same will be broken, many EU members are at odds and Brussels cannot remain pathetically in apathy… In Greece over the last week the crossings from the Anatolian Coast of Turkey have been tenfold and this coming weekend we expect to see even more. Same applies for Italy, then Spain and then Malta. The Italians are raising the stakes as they cannot afford this palaver. We repeat our position: unless we see a Naval Blockade with a Mandate and Rules of Engagement NOTHING else can work /can be done to stop the MIGRANTS pooing into Europe. Turkey does it on purpose; we all know this but we don’t react in a way to make particularly president Erdogan get the message.

The Wars in Syria and Iraq as well as the stand-offs in Afghanistan continue and expect a total conflagration… Turkey is stirring up everybody in the region and will cause further troubles in the entire East Med including further bullying on Cyprus and messy situations in the Balkans. Just wait to see…

We are also sending warnings for the region from Gib to Afghanistan and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa. Another hiccup is the stance of the Russian Orthodox Church towards Byzantium, I mean the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the issue of Ukraine.  It was the Orthodox Greek Byzantines who brought Christianity to the Slavs, the Russians and Ukrainians so all Orthodox Churches should avoid politics on religion.

The entire Balkans – and not just the west Balkans,  still in a mess and will become more messy with Albania and fYRoM; just wait and see…

Greece is living still in a populist world of hype both internally as well as externally. The current politicians – all 300 of them, must go back to the kittergarten, better say back to the drawing board. Expect mess…

The 83rd Thessaloniki Trade Fair is about to close down this Sunday and it has been in our view the most important one! The USA was the Honoured Country!!! That was a timely also coincidence given what’s going on in the region; a very good coincidence! Good to see the Propeller Club fully supporting the events there; its presence Monumental! The Greek politicians are mickey-mousing around. Wake up; Grow up. We had enough!

Italy is in a very vulnerable financial state and CAUTION is advised; ULTRA CAUTION!!! With a colossal debt of US$ 2.8 trillion what can you expect…

BREXIT, as we have long ago foreseen and reported in writing with its twists and turns will NOT only turn Europe upside down but the entire Planet Ocean, irrespective of the end result. It is wrong though to attack Mrs. May!

At the other side of the Atlantic, president Trump raises the stakes with his trade wars and sanctions AND ABOVE ALL his Tariffs. The USA has its say; end of the story!

Russians are also making their presence felt in a very dominant way.

Wonder how Mrs. Merkel responds as well as the Japanese…

All Latin and South American countries are in dire straits. Venezuela might produce another mess. Time Mr. Maduro… E N O U G H !!! Watch-out the Brazilian elections as well as Argentina…

Tomorrow the 9th Hydra Shipping Conference takes place on the historic island of Hydra with very interesting issues; we are sure its going to be a great event not only because of the high calibre of the speakers but of the timing! We will revert with a full report!

In a week’s time the 1st  Navigator Shipping Decision Makers Weekend takes place on the Island of Chios, the Greek island that Rules the Waves.  Don’t miss the Danae Bezantakos and family  event!

In London the 11th Capital Link Shipping & Marine Services Forum takes place at the Royal Society on the 25th of September… and immediately afterwards down in New York the 2nd Invest in Cyprus  on the 28th of September at the Metropolitan Club… (See the respective banner in the site)

I am sure  you all get geared for  the WISTA International event in Tromso, Norway 23-26 October… (see the respective banner in the site)

Thereafter IBIA’s Annual Convention takes place 6-8 November in  Copenhagen…. (see the respective banner in the site)

On another tone and note our trip covering Central Europe continues; before leaving the breathtaking Annecy, here’s another video:

Reverting before midnight with more new on  the Geopolitical mess; until then be on guard from any actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists and any Criminal whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
