The Fletcher Group team, winners of the Seafarers UK 24 Peaks Challenge ‘Top Fundraiser Award’

Fletcher Group Receives Top Fundraising Award for Seafarers UK 24 Peaks Challenge

Teams took to hiking 24 peaks across the Lake District over the weekend of 6-7 July in support of the Seafarers UK charity. With every peak over 2,400 feet, this was a worthy challenge to train for and take seriously. With sore knees, tired feet and every walker challenging their comfort zones, all encountered personal achievement.

Cool starts and clear skies favoured the walkers, who enjoyed amazing views of the Lake District as they ascended the peaks over the two days and 30+ miles.

As teams trained for the challenge they were fundraising in support of seafarers in need and their families. The event is expected to raise more than £50,000.

The ‘Top Fundraiser Award’ was presented to a team from Fletcher Group, new to the 24 Peaks Challenge. On receipt of the award, Keith Fletcher, Managing Director, immediately announced that he would match what the team had so far raised.

Seafarers UK’s ‘Top Ambassador Award’ – presented to the company that encourages the most teams to participate – went to Maersk for their three teams.

Teekay Shipping Glasgow completed the 24 Peaks Challenge in the shortest time of the weekend, an impressive 19 hours, 13 minutes and 42 seconds.

In 2020 the 24 Peaks Challenge will take place on 4-5 July. To find out more contact Marie Robson at Seafarers UK, email marie.robson@seafarers.uk, phone 020 7932 5960.
