The BDI @1928 … the dragon* roars before the 2,000 point threshold!
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) ended up earlier on today at 1,928 points – up 63 and for sure is read to go over and above the 2,000 mark which we haven’t seen since the 3rd of January 2014. Geopolitics: explosive!!! John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:
The Capes’ BCI gained 183 points and now read 3,724; what an euphoria…
The Panamaxes’ BPI its about to go above the 2,000 point mark; it ended at 1,992 which is 47 points plus since yesterday!
Steady as she goes for the Supras’ BSI gaining nine points and now reading 888!
The Handies’ BHSI remained the same at 472…
The gap between today and that as of the end of December 2013 now stands 319 points (2,247 – 1,928)… we are all happy with this development as anything above the 2,000 points makes everybody happy. Don’t be greedy! Now don’t ask me about the BDI at 6,000 or 11,000 plus… you dead well know why…
The Wets were both slightly down; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 628 – minus three and 524 – minus one points respectively!
The WTI ended down at US$ 59.58 – falling below the US$ 60 is …manna from heavens.
The Geopolitics are explosive, perplexed and for sure enigmatic.
MIGRANTS: still the number one issue but politicians diplomats and the rest of the “faithful” flock cannot do anything given the invisible hand that cannot function for other purposes and also for all intents and purposes. The big decision makers’ political masters and their cronies as well as their centres do not wish to solve this problem. Have they followed our advice and some of the high level military people they know and knew, in establishing a Naval Blockade, with a Mandate and Rules of Engagement where necessary, nothing of what takes place today was going to happen; end of the story!
Too much silence in the Syrian front… what’s up there…? Big mess awaits the Middle East…
Mind all Planet Ocean’s dire straits…
Turkey is shaking the NATO alliance, the European Union as well as the entire East Med from west of cape Passero to the Persian Gulf, stirring up the Balkans too, bullying Greece and Cyprus and threatening Peace all over. Wonder what Washington and Brussels are doing… They are messing about as it will be too late if they don’t act NOW; and NOW means something without duration, end of the story… Whatever happens and in the future we wouldn’t listen to any excuse whatsoever! Somebody is playing with Peace! Turkey is becoming a pariah state and the worse of all: a bankrupt state with whatever this entails as they have nothing to loose in the melee they have created. Drilling within the territorial waters of Cyprus and threatening Greece too, is more than enough!! Let’s see what will finally happen with the S-400 and the F-35’s…
Greece tries to stand up following the win of Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ Nea Demokratia after the four years of populists mess. Any objection? Shall I take on any of all these lefty loony live on TV? Eh!
BREXIT will indeed create tsunamis if no deal happens… Our pool gives Jeremy Hunt a slim chance to win! We all know Boris’ establishment; but the establishment these days can win the war but lose afterwards everything! CAUTION!
In Italy now; what do you make following raids on far-right groups were rockets, guns and other ammunition was found? Neo Nazis or even worse? Is it true the group had links to Russia-backed rebels in east Ukraine?
Now do we have or not significant breaches in Iran vis-à-vis the nuclear deal? The USA and Israel are fuming! CAUTION!
The Trade War continues in all fronts; another big CAUTION! Add the US$ 250 (twohundredandfifty) trillion World Debt and see what you get… Wonder who can streamline the economy stupid on Planet Ocean!
Confirm Ebola case in DR Congo; ultra-caution should be observed!
What’s up with former South African president Jacob Zuma? Time will soon tell…
Wonder was the problem with India’s Chandayaan-2 second lunar mission. Hard luck but soon all will be back in order!
Still mess in Venezuela…
On another tone and note we had the Wimbledon finals over the weekend; Novak Djokovic’s epic win over Roger Federer in five test, a record time-wise and Simona Halep monumental victory over Sirena Williams in straight sets! A victory for he mother; what an emotional interview that was!
Remind you of the Summer Streets celebrations; yesterday the first one, the next being 21 July, 18 August and 15th of September just after the London International Maritime Week! Celebrate the summer in style at Regent Street’s urban lifestyle – entertainment, in store activities, great experiences and a great food quarter! Unique!!! This year’s event, a special year as it is the 200th Anniversary of Regent’s Street! London calls and will continue to call the shots with or without BREXIT!
Ink your diary from now on as just after LISW2019 the 10th Hydra Forum takes place on Saturday the 14th of September; titled: “The Controvesy in Shipping – Is it Justifiable?” promises excellent speeches and debates …and a super weekend…
Have a nice evening and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates, Terrorists, Criminals and Business Hooligans wherever you are on Planet Ocean!
*1928 was the year of the Dragon
