British ships urged to avoid the Strait after tanker seized
Saturday, July 20, 2019, Strait of Hormuz

The UK Foreign Office is urging vessels working in the country’s shipping sector to avoid the Strait of Hormuz following the boarding and seizure of a British-flagged oil tanker by Iranian forces on Friday (19 July). The ISPS Code Security Level for British-flagged ships in the Strait of Hormuz is currently at Security Level 3.

According to media reports, the ‘Stena Impero’ was seized while it was sailing in the Strait of Hormuz on Friday. A second tanker, the “Mesdar’, was also stopped but was allowed to continue on its course.

GAC is closely monitoring the situation, and is not currently aware of any changes to port operations in the region. As this is an emerging and fluid situation, GAC will continue to update clients and Hot Port News as more information becomes available.
