Works at Tuas Terminal Phase 1

The working period for works at Tuas Terminal Phase 1 has been extended, and the working area revised.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.071 of 2019, the works will be carried out 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – from 1 August 2019 to 1 February 2020, within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

The works will include reclamation, dredging, soil investigation and shore protection removal. Dredging work will be carried out by dredgers which are assisted by tug boats. The dredger will have a circular safety working zone of 70m radius.
Dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the hopper barges which are assisted by tug boats.
The soil investigation will involve borehole drilling and vibro-coring using jack-up barge. Tug boats will be used to shift the jack-up barges.
A safety boat will be on attendance to warn and direct craft in the vicinity to keep clear of working area.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.

Temporary closure of public landing steps

The King Wan Street public landing steps at To Kwa Wan [are] temporarily closed to marine traffic from 23 July 2019 to 31 December 2019 for improvement works.
Owners, operators, coxswains and persons-in-charge of vessels are advised to use other landing facilities in the vicinity during the period of closure.

Submarine cable laying operations from Junk Bay to Siu Sai Wan

For approximately 5 months, marine works involving cable laying operations will be carried out within the works area bounded by the straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (L) and the adjacent shoreline:

(F) 22 deg. 16.110’N / 114 deg. 14.980’E
(G) 22 deg. 16.188’N / 114 deg. 14.900’E
(H) 22 deg. 16.367’N / 114 deg. 15.140’E
(I) 22 deg. 16.652’N / 114 deg. 15.303’E

The works will [are being] carried out by a flotilla of vessels including one cable-laying barge, two tugboats and two guard boats. The number of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.
A working area of approximately 100 metres around the cable-laying barge [is] established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the cable-laying barge.
The hours of work [are] from 0700 to 2300 hours daily. Vessels employed for the works stay in the works area outside the hours of work except the period when working inside the Tathong Channel Traffic Separation Scheme.
Vessels engaged in the works display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
Diving operations will be carried out from time to time.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution at a slow speed and keep clear of the barge, bearing in mind that there are divers working in the area.
