Unloading of caisson units

For approximately 17 months, unloading of caisson units from a semi-submersible barge for construction of seawall and breakwater will be carried out within the area bounded by straight lines joining the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum) from (A) to (F):
(A) 22 deg. 11.367’N / 113 deg. 59.655’E
(B) 22 deg. 11.367’N / 113 deg. 59.794’E
(C) 22 deg. 11.156’N / 113 deg. 59.794’E
(D) 22 deg. 11.091’N / 113 deg. 59.546’E
(E) 22 deg. 11.108’N / 113 deg. 59.467’E
(F) 22 deg. 11.272’N / 113 deg. 59.464’E
The unloading operation will be carried out by one semi-submersible barge. One crane barge, one dumb lighter, two tugboats and two guard boats will provide assistance. The number and types of vessels engaged in the works will change from time to time to suit operational requirements.
A working area of approximately 250 metres around the semi-submersible barge will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the semi-submersible barge.
A working area of approximately 50 metres around the crane barge and dumb lighter will be established. Yellow marker buoys fitted with yellow flashing lights will be laid to mark the positions of the anchors extending from the crane barge and dumb lighter.
The caisson units unloaded from the semi-submersible barge at the works area will be towed to the southwest of the Shek Kwu Chau for seawall and breakwater construction.
The hours of work will be from 0700 to 1900 hours including Sundays and public holidays. Vessels employed for the operations will stay in the works area outside the hours of work.
Vessels engaged in the operations will display signals as prescribed in international and local regulations.
Vessels navigating in the vicinity should proceed with caution.

South West Pass draft increased

The Federal Pilots of Louisiana have recommended an increase of the maximum freshwater deep draft of 45’ for transits between MM 4.5 AHP and Southwest Pass Seabuoy.

New towage provider rates

The second tug operator at Eden, Pacific Tug Group, has provided its latest tariffs, including towage cost, for the passenger wharf as follows:
NAVAL BERTH (MPB)
– inclusive of 1 tug in and 1 tug out: AUD 32,000
– additional tug (per movement): AUD 16,000
WOODCHIP WHARF
– inclusive of 2 tugs in and 2 tugs out: AUD 64,000
PASSENGER WHARF
– inclusive of 1 tug in and 1 tug out: AUD 22,000
– additional tug (per movement): AUD 11,000
Additional Services are charged at an hourly rate for each tug. There are no additional fuel or volume surcharges.
LINESMEN & LINE/WORK BOAT
– Line boat including 3 crew: AUD 275 per hour per line boat (min 4 hours)
– Pilot/Line boat including 3 crew: AUD 275 per hour (min 4 hours)
– Additional deckhands per crew (min 4 hour call out per service): AUD 90 per hour
If the pilot vessel is required to complete the pilot transfer and is then required to run lines there will be no charge for the pilot transfer.

Pier construction complete, ready for cruise ships

Construction has been completed on the pier at Gilimas port, and it is ready to operate for large cruise ships.
The pier is 440m long, 26m wide and has a depth of 12m, making it possible for Quantum Class vessels with length of 250-350m to berth. Meanwhile, construction of the passenger terminal is at 20%.
The first foreign cruise ships will berth in November this year, bring 4,000 tourists.

Dredging in Temasek Fairway

The working period for dredging in the Temasek Fairway has been extended. The works will now be carried out from 24 August 2019 to 23 February 2020.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.077 of 2019 dated 22 August 2019, the dredging work will be conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following coordinates (WGS 84 Datum):

Dredging works will be carried out by crane barge, supported by hopper barges and pusher tugs. The crane barge will be held in position by spudssystem within the working area.
A safety boat will be in attendance to warn and direct craft in the vicinity to keep clear of working area.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear of the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 22 (Jurong Control);
and
e) Communicate with Jurong Control on VHF Channel 22 for assistance, if required.
