IRI Attends Gastech 2019

IRI/The Marshall Islands Registry attended the 2019 Gastech Conference, held 17–19 September 2019 in Houston, Texas. Approximately 35,000 people attended the conference, which looked at the future of the energy industry, focusing on innovative technology, energy partnerships, and collaboration, particularly in the natural gas and associated industries.

Haroula Kastrinaki Retires

A cornerstone of our Piraeus office, Haroula Kastrinaki, will retire on 30 September 2019. With more than 24 years of service to IRI, Haroula has been instrumental in the development of our corporate business.

Celebrating Annie Ng’s 20 Years’ Service at IRI

Annie Ng has had a remarkable career so far, and it is just getting started. She started with IRI in 1999; opened our Singapore office in 2000, Shanghai office in 2002, Tokyo office in 2004, Seoul office in 2007.

IRI’s Robert Gale Appointed to IMO

Robert Gale, a Regulatory Specialist for IRI based in London has accepted a six-month appointment to the IMO as the Senior Professional Officer for operational safety and the human element.

Safe Operations = Successful Operations

Data collected through global port State control (PSC) inspections indicate that deficiencies in safety equipment, procedures, and the failure to report non-conformities are all frequent causes of detentions. In a bid to tackle this problem head-on, member authorities of the Paris and Tokyo Memorandums of Understanding on PSC will be conducting a joint Concentrated Inspection Campaign on emergency systems and procedures.

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is also continuing to carry out focused campaigns targeting safety-related issues and the full implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS). According to the USCG’s 2018 Annual Report, the top 50% of detentions by deficiency type across all vessel types were attributed to firefighting appliances/fire safety (22%), followed by certificates/logbooks (16%), and finally SMSs (12%). To understand these statistics, it is important to look deeper.

Monaco Yacht Show: The World’s Most Important Yacht Show

With more than 44 new launches, 125 extraordinary one-off superyachts on display worth more than EUR 4 billion combined, and 30,000 visitors arriving from every corner of the globe, the numbers speak to the scale of the event.

IRI hosted a seminar on the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Associations Law and the RMI Yacht Code earlier this month in Istanbul, Turkey, with industry experts and speakers from several IRI offices.

In a yard in the Italian coastal town of Livorno, a yacht has been christened and now joins the yachting world’s most exclusive club: the “giga” class. The FB275 is 108 meters (m), built by renowned Italian luxury yacht builder Benetti, was unveiled to a select audience at a private ceremony earlier this year.
