Port pro of the month: Zeno D’Agostino (IT)

ESPO’s Executive Committee meeting of 24 September was kindly hosted by the Port of Trieste, a port that celebrates this year its 300th birthday. Since last year, the President of the Port of Trieste, Mr Zeno D’Agostino, has been also ESPO’s Vice-Chairman. We thought it would be a good idea to ask our Vice-Chairman about his views on his port, the challenges it faces, his personal career and many more interesting questions!

More than 40 organisations jointly call for a strong Connecting Europe Facility II

Ahead of the European Parliament’s hearings of the commissioners-designate, a coalition of more than 40 European associations and organisations renewed their call for a strong transport budget. While the previous European Parliament and the Council had agreed on a common understanding on the proposal for the Connecting Europe Facility 2021-2027 (CEF II), the budget will be decided by the upcoming negotiations of the Multiannual Financial Framework. The European Parliament had demanded an increased budget of €33.51bn (€37.76bn in current prices) for the transport envelope of the Connecting Europe Facility II.

ESPO award jury puts the ports of Dover, Dublin, Stockholm and Union des Ports de France (UPF) in final competition for the Award 2019

The projects of the ports of Dover, Dublin, Stockholm and Union des Ports de France (UPF) have been shortlisted for the 11th European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) Award on Societal Integration of Ports. The jury selected these four applications from a total of nine submissions. The theme of this year’s edition is “Transparency and the role of social media in reaching out to the local community”.

The TEN-T review must recognise the new role(s) of ports

Before summer, the European Commission kicked off the review of the TEN-T Regulation 1315/2013 with a public consultation. The European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) submitted its proposals for the review.
