Suspension at Dardanelles
Wednesday, October 30, 2019, Dardanelles, Turkey

According to information obtained from Canakkale VTS center, traffic will be suspended from 30.10.2019 at 22:00 Lt until 31.10.2019 04:00 Lt for vessels that are transitting without pilotage due to fiber optical cabling and infrastructure works in Canakkale strait by “Turk Telekom”.

Vessels transitting with pilotage will not be affected from this suspension.

These craft will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.

Details

The construction works entail marine piling works, concrete reinforcement works and installation of floating pontoon.

Buoys will be installed to mark the working area.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity to warn other craft about the work.

Caution

When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:

a) Keep well clear of the working area;

b) Maintain a proper lookout;

c) Proceed at a safe speed and to navigate with caution;

d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 18 (Keppel Control);

and

e) Communicate with Keppel Control on VHF Channel 18 for assistance, if required
