ArtCan has done it again! Open Call : Counter l Balance
As part of a very proactive programme set out by ArtCan, every year they run an Open Call for artists in all mediums. This year the name and theme of the exhibition is Counter l Balance. Each artist is exhibiting work caught in a decisive moment, and through careful curation by Antonella Acerra, the group exhibition flows effortlessly through Trinity Art Gallery.
Glass artist, Kira Phoenix K’inan, explores the theme of Counter l Balance with triptych Attract/Repel on Three Frames. Attract/Repel on Three Frames balances thin panels of glass with varying sizes of extrusions attempting to extract themselves from the base. On closer inspection of the work you become aware that this seemingly still series has a subtly vibrancy as each spike is a different shade of blue and green.

Kira’s work is being shown next to Hamish Macaulay, who has also displayed a tryptic using his signature bold colour strip that sit comfortably next to the more delicate black forms.
This years winner of the £500 GreatArt Prize is Mark Munro-Preston for his beautiful print on brushed aluminium. Massive congratulations to Mark. He is pictured with curator Antonella Acerra.
