CABLE LAYING WORKS IN THE EAST JOHOR STRAIT

Cable laying works in the East Johor Strait

The working period for cable laying in the East Johor Strait has been extended. The work will now be carried out from 29 November 2019 to 28 May 2020.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Port Marine Notice No.120 of 2019 dated 25 November 2019, the works are being conducted 24 hours daily – including Sundays & Public Holidays – within the working area bounded by the following co-ordinates (WGS 84 Datum):
1) 01 deg. 28·585’N / 103 deg. 48·148’E
2) 01 deg. 28·696’N / 103 deg. 48·662’E
3) 01 deg. 28·208’N / 103 deg. 48·573’E
4) 01 deg. 28·141’N / 103 deg. 48·182’E
The works will involve soil investigation, dredging and cable laying works.
The cable laying works will be carried out by a Cable Laying Barge (CLB) and dredging works will be carried out by dredger (GREIP) within the working area.
Denman Shoal Buoy and Senoko “A” Buoy will be relocated during the working period.
A safety boat will be deployed to warn other craft in the vicinity of the working area.
Craft involved in the works will exhibit the appropriate local and international day and night signals.
When in the vicinity of the working area, mariners are reminded to:
a) Keep well clear and not to enter the working area;
b) Maintain a proper lookout;
c) Proceed at a safe speed and navigate with caution;
d) Maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 21 (Sembawang Control);
and
e) Communicate with Sembawang Control on VHF Channel 21 for assistance, if required.

Jetty channel disruption

In order to ensure safety during dredge pipeline removal operations, the Captain of the Port Corpus Christi will establish a safety zone for the portion of the Aransas Pass Jetty Channel, within a 1000-foot radius of position 27 deg. 50’23.7” N, 097 deg. 03’00.9” W, for Friday November 29, 2019, between the hours of 7am and 1pm.
No vessels shall enter the safety zone from 7am to 1pm (CST) on November 29, 2019, unless authorized by the U.S. Coast Guard.
