Ben Darnton joins Halcyon as its new Commercial Director, based in the UK, and CJ Thomas has been appointed as Halcyon’s Business Manager in Singapore.

Heidi Heseltine, CEO of Halcyon, commented: “The search for talent will be one of the defining themes for shipping in 2020, across every sector and region. The maritime and energy industries are in transition with new roles coming to the fore, new skillsets and new patterns of working, all of which is placing tremendous pressure on companies to hire the right people, and we are delighted to welcome Ben and CJ at this critical time.

“It takes a lot of time to find individuals who share our values and who want to make a positive difference to those they work with, be they clients, candidates or colleagues. Ben and CJ completely embody our service offering of providing a highly consultative service, where we see ourselves as operating as an extension of our clients’ brand and organisation.

“Ben will have strategic and operational input across the business as part of our senior management team. As one of the leading practitioners in the maritime recruitment sector, Ben’s expertise encompasses the full landscape within the global shipping and marine sectors and adds a whole new dimension to our capabilities.

“CJ has joined us to head up our oil & gas, offshore and marine engineering recruitment activities within the Asia Pacific team, further expanding our service within this growing market and strengthening our presence in Singapore.”

Ben Darnton joins in the UK office as Commercial Director. Ben has specialised in maritime and energy recruitment since the year 2000, from a Trainee Recruitment Consultant through to shareholding Managing Director of Faststream. He brings with him a wealth of experience in all areas of maritime recruitment, and a strong belief in consultative and long-term relationship-orientated solutions.
