OUTBREAK OF THE 2019 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS: USCG MARINE SAFETY INFORMATION BULLETIN
The USCG has issued precautionary guidance regarding the outbreak of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV). The Marine Safety Information Bulletin 01-20, Novel Coronavirus Precautions, provides key points and reminders regarding travel to and from Wuhan, People’s Republic of China, and suggests basic precautions to prevent catching and spreading the virus.
Furthermore, the Bulletin reminds vessel owners, operators and other industry stakeholders of the requirement to report any crew or passengers who have become sick or died within the previous 15 days. It also provides a link to the points of contacts of regional Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) quarantine stations.
The USCG will continue to review all “Notices of Arrivals” in accordance with current policies and coordinate with health authorities in the event of sick or deceased crew or passengers. Members are also reminded that their vessels’ Masters are required to inform any USCG boarding teams in advance of embarking their vessels of any ill crew members or passengers.
