AMERICAN CLUB CIRCULAR NO. 09/20 – PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS (PEME) AND COVID-19
MARCH 20, 2020
CIRCULAR NO. 09/20
TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION
Dear Member:
PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS (PEME) AND COVID-19
Your Managers are continually monitoring all relevant information including local, regional and global policy developments relevant to the COVID-19 outbreak.
A significant challenge to our industry is the welfare of Members’ deployed seafarers considering port States’ COVID-19 prevention and mitigation policies limiting or preventing crew changes as well as limitations in air travel.
Therefore, the validity of American Club PEME certificates is extended to April 30, 2020 for seafarers originating from Bulgaria, India, Indonesia, Latvia, Philippines, Poland, Romania, the Russian Federation and Ukraine that:
(1) currently hold valid American Club PEME certificates due to expire before April 30, 2020; and
(2) are currently deployed onboard a P&I owned entered vessel with the Association.
For seafarers to be deployed, the current requirements as summarized at https://www.american-club.com/ page/pemes remain in effect.
As always, the Managers will be pleased to respond to all enquiries arising from the above. Please direct all declarations and inquiries to Dr. William Moore, Global Loss Prevention at william.moore@american-club. com.
Yours faithfully,

Joseph E.M. Hughes, Chairman & CEO
