Falling Markets, global Recession and the Coronavirus effect
Another interesting week and brace for more difficulties in all fronts. John Faraclas’ daily and weekly recaps:
The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) lost 13 points and now stands at 556; on a weekly basis same was down 69 points – from 625 on 20/3 and the loss of the 600 points threshold is now the harsh reality..
The Capes’ BCI was up nine points and now reads minus 97 – at least a double digit figure… the weekly change was 34 points plus from minus 121 !
The Panamaxes BPI gained 14 points and now reads 729; on a weekly basis though same was down 78 points – from 807 last Friday…
Supras and Handies falling; the BSI was down 34 points a 641 – the weekly loss a flat 100 points from 741… The BHSI was down 14 points at 401 and the weekly22 – from 423 last Friday the 20th of March…
So, all in all: a falling Dry Market with the BDI below the 600 points, CAUTION !!!!!
The Wets as volatile and unpredictable as ever given the oil demand, supply and geopolitics vis-à-vis the price, particularly that of the WTI! Τhe last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 1,230 for the Dirties – plus 119 and 855 – minus three points for the Cleans respectively… The weekly state gave us a plus of 64 points for the Dirties – up from 1,166 last week and seven from 848 for the Cleans… Watch the price which will definitely will be affected….
The WTI fell to US$21.55 which is US$1.09 down since yesterday and US$1.14 since last Friday the 20th of March 2020 following some fluctuations!!!!
All major bourses with the exception of the Nikkei and Hang Seng closed in red!!!!! Currencies demand caution; in our view this situ was expected from our side due to the fact that we are in a Recession and same was “strengthened” with the US$257 (twohundredandfiftyseven) trillion debt on Planet Ocean and the Coronavirus (COVID-19) effect!
Expect a spill over in the Economic and Transport field; you like it or no, we are living in a bankrupt World, end of the story.
On the Coronavirus (COVID-19) unfortunately we are at the beginning; brace for what is yet to come. These are early days; the situ might go on even for two years… We sincerely hope we are wrong with our projection; time though will tell… Coincidentally, since 1720 and every 100 years something similar happens; check the historic records…
We urge you all to make your calculations and assessments – yes in plural.
We urge you to be DISCIPLINED citizens. Avoid being clever dicks – you dead well know what I mean…
We URGE politicians to stop interfering with the Medical Scientist Specialists views and let them do their job as they know best!!!!
In the Geopolitical arena now; everybody is trying to capitulate for his/hers benefit. The time of Reckoning though will come for all; we have warned you last December that 2020 will be the year of Reckoning with whatever this entails and we adhere to it!!!!
Mind the MIGRANTS issue… We are warning all involved as some despot-politicians even at this stage when we are all try to tackle Coronavirus (COVID-19) they pursue dirty, despicable inhumane tactics… You dead well know to whom we refer to…
The European Union has its last chance to survive as many nations feel vulnerable from other nations’ tactics and behaviour… Italy, Spain and others are being deprived from the solidarity needed in these crucial hours…

We politely ask the Politicians as well as their Cronies to come down to their senses before coming down to their knees for what we all go through and NEVER again to “allow” this despicable thing to happen with the Coronavirus (COVID-19); after all we have been trained during our Army service / “tenure” for Nuclear, Radio-Biological and Chemical Warfare (Ατομικος Ραδιο-βιολογικος και Χημικος Πολεμος – απλα: ΑΡΒΧΠ) so it was something to expect… Very recently we conducted exercises… We always conduct, from time to time such exercises… eh!!!!!
We also remind all Airport Authorities, Port Authorities, Rail and Bus Stations to clean-up their three F’s (Furniture, Fixtures and Fittings) e v e r y t h i n g before the fourth BIG F engulfs them… the “famous” F-word… It’s about time they get their act together… All Airlines too MUST have in all aircrafts appropriate size toilettes… we have recently covered both issues in respective reporting!!!
Lastly, it has come to our attention that there are from accidental, natural and other reasons a few dead people on board ships and they have to be evacuated. Local Port and Terminal Authorities in co-operation with respective regimes MUST cooperate and co-ordinate same!!!
Have a nice evening as well as weekend and remain on guard from actions emanating from Pirates – we see a bit of a surge, Terrorists – still around and is about time we smash and silence them “nicely” once and for all, Criminals – surging right now as well as Business Hooligans whatsoever wherever you are on Planet Ocean… AND mind the GAP with the Coronavirus continuous effect!!!!! We are optimistic but we believe in the old maxim “Ask Goddess Athena for help, but move on” – free translation of “Συν Αθηνα και χείρα κίνει”.-
