Green Dries and Red Wets

The BDI (Baltic Dry Index) ended up 17 points since yesterday and now stands at 494  – just six points below the first main threshold of 500. With the Wets in free fall, the WTI in uncertainty, Geopolitics and Coronavirus in full swing, things – despite optimism, are perplexed.  John Faraclas’ brief daily recap:

The Capes’ BCI was up six points at 80…

“Rich” pickings for the Panamaxes’ BPI now at 623 – up 16 points…

The Supras’ BSI was up at 478 – seven points up.

The Handies’  BHSI gained four points and now stands at 243…

All in all an upwards moving Dry Market but still it is early days to make any estimation or even prognosis as the BDI is below the 1,000 point mark and both Geopolitics – coupled with Recession and Coronavirus, do not permit so. CAUTION and Vigilance is the best way out.-

The Wets continue in Red; the last published BDTI (Dirties) and BCTI (Cleans) stood at 756 – minus 36 and 569 – minus 52 points respectively. The latter lost also the 600 points threshold; CAUTION!!

The WTI as these lines are being written, managed to remain “firm” at US$ 33.90. Again: CAUTION!

The Geopolitics become dirty and will continue so unless we observe some reasoning. Behind a nation’s despicable behaviour towards another, its “patrons” with “vested” interests are looming in background… CAUTION as you never ever know what might happen at the end of the day…

MIGRANTS maintain the top position and will continue to deteriorate… An issue that MUST be contained before we witness despicable developments.

The faulty line from Gib to Afghanistan  and from the Caucuses to the Horn of Africa continue to give shocks with Turkey trying to disrupt not just the regional, but World Peace. For example, earlier on today there were 79 (seventynine) violations of Greece’s – and conversely Europe’s airspace by seven Turkish fighter jets in Northeast, Central and Southeast Aegean Sea whilst five dog fights took place between Greek and Turkish fighter jets. The Turkish planes (four F16’s and three CN-235) breached the flight rules of Athens’ FIR. 15 (fifteen) of the violations were above eight Greek Islands. Four of these Turkish jets were armed and all have been reconnessant as well as intercepted by the Greek Air force according to the international rules. This is escalating and it might lead soon to uncontrollable situations.

The Middle East in turmoil and let’s see how Islamists and others respond with Israel’s designs. Ultra-CAUTION should be observed.-

The EU cannot gets its act together with many issues…. BREXIT will cause issues for all…

At the other side of the Atlantic, in both North and South, things get worse. The USA lives in a different tempo which is also due to the forthcoming presidential elections and obviously Coronavirus adds to this…

In the Central and South America besides all other issues, Argentina might erupt again… Money money money… One of the richest countries on Planet Ocean is again on the brink of another deadly crisis… Add the despicable issue of the Amazon and see what you get… Brazil’s Bolsonaro must reason with this alarming situation or else…

The Far East remains the same with China trying to get off from  the mess – particularly the economic one, as much as possible unscathed… and fast… Can the Chinese do it..? Japan is closely watching all developments not only in its close proximity but all over the Pacific  Basin… globally too…

More Geopolitics in tomorrow’s weekend recap…

Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread continues now and the South Hemisphere erupts… Watchout Argentina and Brazil… CAUTION!

We need a coherent medical policy  by all leaders to reduce this awful burden threatening humanity as things might, repeat might get worse.

On another tone and note, and as per our yesterday’s reminder, we had the first  LSLC (London Shipping Law Centre) Webinar in association with Norton Rose Fulbright on the “Enforcement of Arbitration Awards in different jurisdictions”. Viewers can log herebelow and  listen to this interesting presentations and  exchanges useful to all:
